Portobelo, Panama is our home and we know this area better than anyone else. We have wreck dives, reef dives, drift dives, deep dives, night dives and even treasure hunts along this historic Caribbean coast. There are white sand island beaches within 10 minutes of our Portobelo hotel, Octopus Garden.

Day Trips If you’d like a day trip, we can pick you up from your hotel in Panama or Colon. We offer a 2 tank dive trip leaving from historic Portobelo, once the host to Spanish treasure ships and marauding pirates. Your trip begins around 7:30 am with a scenic ride across the isthmus of Panama to our dive center. There you will board one of our custom dive boats and speed off to your first dive. Our dive boats are foam-filled for buoyancy, equipped with all the proper safety equipment oxygen, first-aid, radio, etc.), and set up to maximize comfort and efficiency.

Led by experienced dive professionals, you will drop onto vibrant reefs with an astounding array of hard and soft coral punctuated by massive barrel sponges and lacy sea fans. The waters are filled with tropical favorites including many varieties of Angels, Butterflies, Damsels, Wrasses, Gobies, Hawkfish, and Trumpetfish. Larger fish include Tarpon, Barracuda, Snapper, Grouper, Jacks, Sharks, and Green Moray Eels. With care, you can also find wonderful micro subjects such as Banded Coral Shrimp, Arrow Crabs, and Seahorses. The water is typically in the mid-80sF and we select sites based on best conditions for the skill level and interest of our customers. During the surface interval, we have our choice of pretty beaches or historical sites for some refreshment before heading back to the second dive site. After an action-packed second dive, we head back to the Dive Center to rinse off and sign logbooks before the relaxing ride back to Panama, where you will arrive in time for dinner. Includes: Air-conditioned land transportation, boat transportation, dive equipment (as needed and subject to availability), snacks and beverages, professional dive guide and boat captain.

What to bring: Bathing suit, towel, hat, sun block, dive/snorkel equipment.

Duration: Approximately 7-8 hours total from Panama City.

Min / Max: Min of 4 / Max of 12 persons per trip. Note: Diving is always contingent upon weather and sea conditions. Strong winds during the summer months can make the boat rides bumpy and can lower visibility underwater, especially later in the day during that season. Se try to leave a little earlier to finish our dives before it gets too windy.

Overnight Of course, we’re happy to host you at our hotel for multi-day trips and this is where we can accommodate your desires for the type, duration and locations of various dive trips. Just let us know what you’d like to do and we’re sure to be able to help.
